It's July 5th. All the barbecue has been eaten, all the cheap headache inducing beer's have been drunk and pissed away, and the fireworks have been shot into the night sky amid the protests of terrified toddlers and dogs alike.
I've spent my long weekend probably doing the exact same things most of you have,
i.e.,
Eating too much.
Drinking too much
and spending tons of time outside with friends and family, which for us desert dwelling folks here in the Phoenix metro area means spending as much time as possible in or near water.
We skipped out on the fireworks displays, though, our three-year-old tends to get insanely grumpy if she isn't in bed by 8 PM and most fireworks displays in Phoenix started up around 9.
Yup, my little vacation (blogging or otherwise.) is at it's end. I'll be hauling out the lawn mower in an hour or so to spend a couple of hours battling my old nemesis, yard work.
But first, me and the daughter will head out to the pool one last time
But before we go, I'll pass on some links.
First up, if you haven't already, go ahead and swing by Bookspot Central and check out the BCS summer 6 pack. It's a cool feature me, Kieran Shea, Nate Flexer, Tim Maleeny, Sean Chercover, Brett Battles, and a ton of BSC staffers participated in. It's a great little piece if you're needing some help with expanding your summer reading list.
Next, Chad Eagleton is a favorite of old Bloody Knucks, and the man himself made his Forgotten Books Friday review debut. Click HERE to check it out.
In the new fiction department, Frank Bill stuck his head out of whatever backwoods gin mill he's been holed up in and sent a couple of new stories over to Darkest before the Dawn.
Make sure to check out:
and
if you haven't already.
And, some one was actually crazy enough to sit down and interview Paul Brazil.
Check it out over at the Outsider Writer's Collective.
And last but not least, last week I posted a brief interview I conducted with Seth Harwood. Well after I finished up with him, he turned around and did the same thing to me and Jason Duke.
I'll warn you right here, I come off like a belligerent drunk in this one:

Keith - you should do more of this 'TV' stuff. You're really good at it. ... ta for the hat tip to jason's 'conversation...' piece... what about you doing something similar? I know you've got cow all time but think about it.
nervous maybe. belligerent? nah.
Paul--There is something in the works as far as the video thing is concerned. (In fact, the 'script' has been written for it, but I haven't had the chance this weekend to sit down and record it.) I'll be keeping my two or three readers posted when it goes down.
Irish--Yeah, I was hella nervous and I actually wish I'd had a couple before Seth sprung that on me and Jason.
Keith- Paul's right. You've got a good video thing goin for ya. Send more
Keith you were drunk and beligerant... and I had a stupid fucking grin the whole time and looked like I washed my face in vaseline. You got me curious about the vid project you're working on. Something for the Lansdale/Abott gigs coming up?
Jason--Oh yeah, I'll hopefully be able to get a couple of minutes with Joe and Megan. But, there's a video project I'm going to be doing for another site some time this week. (I'll hopefully be sitting down at the camera tomorrow.)I'll keep everyone posted on where that's going. By the way, Neil dug the video and was pumped to see us pimping Yellow Medicine and Hogdoggin'.
