Yeah, I know it went live on Friday, but this had to be one of the busiest weekends I've had in a long time and this has been the first time I've been able to sit down at the computer over the past couple of days.
But it's been an exciting two days to say the least.
First off, we dropped issue 3.5, our first all fiction issue, which features new stories by:
Sophie Littlefield
Jonathan Woods
Jake Hinkson
Cullen Gallagher
Garnett Elliot
Jason Duke
John Kenyon
Jay Stringer
Robert Crisman
Julie Madeline
Eric Beetner
Naomi Johnson
It's a damn fine issue with an amazing line up, so make sure to check it out right HERE
And on the same night, I headed down to Scottsdale to cover the Poisoned Pen conference.
It was a crazy, fun night and I sat down with Michael Koryta, (who, by the way, has got to be one of the coolest authors I've met since I started doing interviews for BSCreview/Spinetingler, and his new novel, So Cold The River, ranks as one of the best reads of the summer.) Sophie Littlefield, (One of my favorite people, period.) the charming and hilarious Gary Phillips, and the legendary Vicki Hendricks for video interviews for both BSC and Spinetingler.
By the end of the night, my voice sounded like Tom Waits after gargling a shot glass of flaming cooking oil and wood chips, but I had a blast and had a mountain of books signed (including my Really Good Books edition of the Jook by Gary Phillips) I also got the chance to hang out with Jason Duke for a little bit, although our visit was way too brief.
And on Saturday, the wife and I (and about a thousand toddlers) celebrated my daughter Sadie's fourth birthday. Every parent says it, but it's true, it just seems like yesterday that my darling girl was born and I'm sure I'll feel the same when she's thirty.
Anyone, gang, I'm beat and have get a few other things before the night's done, so I'll talk to you later.
Oh, one more thing, make sure to check out Frank Bill's Blog, House of Grit. Frank's one of the few guys I know who's even busier than I am slapped together a new post detailing what he's been up to, so make sure to check it out right HERE.
Happy birthday to Sadie!! And it was a real pleasure to see you this weekend, Keith, as always!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there would be that many authors and felt bad I couldn't buy all their books, which was why I kind of zipped along the table with my tail tucked between my legs. Gary was cool as hell and I appreciate you letting me sit in on his interview. Vicki was my favorite because I got a chance to talk with her. She seemed pretty normal, down to earth to me. I think that one dude was talking out of his ass when he called her strange.
ReplyDeleteSophie--It was great seeinbg you, too, Sophie, and I hope you had a great time while you were here.
ReplyDeleteJason--It was way too many books to buy (I mean, shit, who has that kind of cash?) and I don't think anyone was offended that you didn't buy their book. And the strangest people tend to think everyone is strange compared to them
