Crimefactory 3.5 is LIVE!!!

Yeah, I know it went live on Friday, but this had to be one of the busiest weekends I've had in a long time and this has been the first time I've been able to sit down at the computer over the past couple of days.

But it's been an exciting two days to say the least.

First off, we dropped issue 3.5, our first all fiction issue, which features new stories by:

Sophie Littlefield
Jonathan Woods
Jake Hinkson
Cullen Gallagher
Garnett Elliot
Jason Duke
John Kenyon
Jay Stringer
Robert Crisman
Julie Madeline
Eric Beetner
Naomi Johnson

It's a damn fine issue with an amazing line up, so make sure to check it out right HERE

And on the same night, I headed down to Scottsdale to cover the Poisoned Pen conference.
It was a crazy, fun night and I sat down with Michael Koryta, (who, by the way, has got to be one of the coolest authors I've met since I started doing interviews for BSCreview/Spinetingler, and his new novel, So Cold The River, ranks as one of the best reads of the summer.) Sophie Littlefield, (One of my favorite people, period.) the charming and hilarious Gary Phillips, and the legendary Vicki Hendricks for video interviews for both BSC and Spinetingler.

By the end of the night, my voice sounded like Tom Waits after gargling a shot glass of flaming cooking oil and wood chips, but I had a blast and had a mountain of books signed (including my Really Good Books edition of the Jook by Gary Phillips) I also got the chance to hang out with Jason Duke for a little bit, although our visit was way too brief.

And on Saturday, the wife and I (and about a thousand toddlers) celebrated my daughter Sadie's fourth birthday. Every parent says it, but it's true, it just seems like yesterday that my darling girl was born and I'm sure I'll feel the same when she's thirty.

Anyone, gang, I'm beat and have get a few other things before the night's done, so I'll talk to you later.

Oh, one more thing, make sure to check out Frank Bill's Blog, House of Grit. Frank's one of the few guys I know who's even busier than I am slapped together a new post detailing what he's been up to, so make sure to check it out right HERE.

Crimefactory #3 is LIVE!!!!!!

Hi, folks,

It's that time again.

Crimefactory issue 3 is Live!

You know, this has been our toughest issue to put together to date, largely because of a lot personal turmoil that Cam, Liam, and I have been individually going through in the past couple of months and it took us a little while to get our shit together and we ended up being a couple of weeks late on the issue, but in my opinion, it was well worth the wait.

Issue 3 features fiction from some the best up and coming writers today including Kieran Shea, Dennis Tafoya, Greg Bardsley, Sandra Seamans, Daniel O'Shea, and we debut an excerpt from my good friend Jedidiah Ayres first novel, Peckerwood.

And the features, we've got some amazing stuff this issue:
Liam interviews filmmaker Nash Edgerton, director of the Square.
Crimefactory founder David Honeybone interviews crime fiction legend Peter Temple.
South African novelist Roger Smith offers up a fantastic Under the Influence piece.
Australian novelist Leigh Redhead Returns to the Scene of her debut novel, Peepshow.
And everyone's favorite blessedly foul mouthed critic, the Nerd of Noir, returns with another installment of the Crime Sleeper Double Feature.

Also, make sure to check out the Crimefactory blog where Liam gives us a run down of what's to come for Crimefactory in the next couple of months.

And as always, make sure to spread the word.

Blog it
Facebook it
Twitter it

But most of all, READ IT!

CRIMEFACTORY ISSUE#3

PS

The Kindle and Smashword links will be live sometime tomorrow. Yeah, both orgs wanna make sure the issue ain't got no bad words or any nonsense like that before they publish it.

Also, I want to personally thank Jimmy 'the Gem' Callaway for his bad ass copy editing skills. Yeah, not only is Jimmy one of the best writers going, but he's gotta hell of an eye for detail.

Look, Ma, I still have a blog!

Yeah, I posted this one a little too early today.
I actually meant to write something, but then like most things in my life these days, I got busy and accidentally posted the title and nothing else instead of saving it in drafts, which is probably a good thing because folks started posting comments and that's forcing me to actually write a blog post.

But listen, I'm not going to make excuses of why I haven't posted over here at old bloody knucks, I've been busy. So busy, in fact, that most of this social networking stuff has been falling to the wayside for the exception to the 15 or 20 minutes I spend on Facebook a day. (Not that I'm missing it all that much.) And chances are things aren't going change all that much, especially with all the projects I'm winding down.

Here's a abbreviated list:

1) Crimefactory issue #3 (Liam and Cam are days away from delivering it, so please be patient)

2) Crimefactory #3.5 (This one's pretty much in the can, but it is our first all fiction issue and we have no lack of great stories. So as a quick side note: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PEOPLE, GIVE ME SOME FEATURES!!! Seriously, quality non-fiction has been tough to come by.)

3) The Crimefactory anthology.
This should come as a surprise to no one that I've been working on this since about a week after issue #1 and most of the stories for it have made it into my inbox and I've been more than happy with the results. But now comes the hard part for me of actually editing the damn thing.

4) Author interviews for BSCreview.
Yeah, summer book tours are in full swing and there are a ton of great writers coming through Phoenix who I'm scheduled to interview

5) Lots of longer stories that I've been chipping away at over the past year are coming to a close, so those are taking up a ton of time every day.

6) I've started going full steam on a pet project I've been kicking around for the past couple of years and I'm fully dedicated despite the fact that it'll probably never see the light of day.

7) Work and family. This should actually be #1 because both take priority over everything else.

So, yeah, lots going on and chances are you won't be seeing that much of me over here for awhile. But, I'll still be doing time over at Spinetingler and BSCreview.

Hope everyone has a great summer!

PS

Speaking of busy guys, Anthony Neil Smith has put out the call for some summer help for Plots with Guns, so make sure to check it out right HERE for all the details.
